Name

Ciprian State

Job title

Product Marketing Manager

How long have you worked for Auka?

I joined Auka in July 2020, so I’m practically a freshman.

Worst part about your job?

I don’t have one.

Best part about your job?

Working with great people from all over Europe (and not only) in a very dynamic industry.

What was your dream job growing up?

First it was an astronaut and then a science fiction writer. I guess being a product marketer in innovation-driven industries is close enough 🙂

Who do you admire the most?

It’s all the leaders in their fields that embody a servant leadership philosophy, who prioritise their customers, their communities and their teams, and ultimately the whole society vs. narcissistic temptations present in all of us.

What is your biggest achievement or what do you feel proudest of?

My son, the social anthropology book I coordinated and co-wrote and, of course, Auka!

Give one prediction for ten years from now?

Intermittent digital technology fasting is going to be a common practice.

Your favourite quote

You can never cross the ocean until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore. André Gide

What one piece of advice would you give to others wanting to be a product marketing manager?

Since product marketing sits at the intersection of Product, Sales and Marketing, you will need a pretty diverse set of skills, but probably the foundational one is to be great at listening to others.
